About the Artisan

The artisan, Dave Stevens, was born a generation too late. A self-described hippie, Dave enjoys the simple things in life. He began dabbling in art when he was a young child, as many of us also once did. He has always loved to draw—his first medium being, of course, crayons! Dave then began working with both pencil and in ink, much to the chagrin of his mother, Elsie (as Dave’s bedroom walls soon became his canvas!). Even so, Elsie did not stifle his creativity, but encouraged it as she too was a gifted artist in her own right. With such encouragement, Dave’s creativity continued to flourish and he began to build interesting rustic-style pieces from wood such as wagons and water tanks. He then built a solar powered miner’s cabin on his property. Since then, Dave has found an affinity for working with metal and crafting pieces that reflect both his love for nature and his joie de vivre (joy of living/love & zeal for and enjoyment of life)!

Dave was gifted with his artistic ability from his mom, Elsie, who was a talented artist in her own right. Elsie taught Dave to love nature and to pay attention to detail. Dave built upon Elsie’s attention to detail and has added his unique style and personal touches to his metal art. He lovingly composes each hand-crafted piece with a sense of balance and he has a great eye for composition and aesthetics. His artistic creations manifest both his love of nature and his attention to detail. Dave would enjoy creating a custom piece of metal art for you which combines your ideas with his natural ability and artistic vision. Dave designs his artwork to be both beautiful and inspiring.

Hippie Dave lives, works, and plays in the hills of the picturesque High Desert. His hobbies are hiking, camping, motorcycle riding, hanging out with his four dogs, and being a steward of the beautiful five acres of land he has been blessed with. Living simply, peacefully and in harmony with nature are an integral part of Dave’s philosophy.
